On Saturday, March 28, 2009, come celebrate the 2009 International Tourist Guide Day with a free walking tour of Toronto’s undergound “PATH”. You can’t see it, but it’s all hidden underneath the towering shadows of office buildings and shops that run below the Toronto’s downtown core. The PATH provides 27 kilometres of shopping, a variety of services, and entertainment, all linked together. You can spend the whole day going from one end to the other without ever popping up to see daylight.
A few tidbits about the “PATH”:
- It’s the largest underground shopping centre (Guinness World Records).
- It has approximately 1, 200 shops and services.
- It connects over 50 buildings and office towers.
- It provides a link to many major tourist attractions such as: the Hockey Hall of Fame, Rogers Centre, Roy Thomson Hall, Air Canada Centre, CN Tower, City Hall and Metro Hall
If you’re interested in joining the walk, meet at the lower level of the Concourse at the Brookfield Place Food Court at 10 am. If you’re late, don’t worry, tours leave every 15 minutes from 10 am to 11 am. Each tour is approximately 1½ hours long. For more information, please call: 416-964-2701
To get to Brookfield Place, take the TTC to Union Station and follow the signs.
